At the beginning of spring, the first waves of songbirds return, their calls carrying across the yard and into the surrounding trees. Around the porch, feeders draw in a steady gathering—finches moving in small clusters, and a territorial Rufous Hummingbird darting between perches and airspace. This marks the first season capturing them in 4K, a closer look at a pattern that repeats year after year. The variation in the hummingbirds is subtle but clear—the richer, copper-toned bird with flashes of red is the male, while the softer, pale-toned bird is the female, both returning to the same ground as the season begins.
